I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “AI will steal our jobs!” Some of you might agree, while others might not.

I’m not here to argue whether that’s true or false. What I am saying is this: AI will only replace us if we hand over control, step back, and let it do everything without thinking critically or strategically.

As a marketing professional, I can confidently say that AI is a game changer in our industry. In fact, I’ll go as far as to say it’s mandatory to use AI in marketing activities today. But — and this is important — please don’t just copy and paste whatever ChatGPT or any AI tool gives you. I can spot it immediately. And if I can, so can your customers.

And when customers detect generic, lifeless content, you lose something far more valuable than time: their trust. That’s not what you want, right?

AI Can Save Time — But Not Replace Expertise

Studies show that AI can save marketing professionals over 10 hours per week by automating repetitive tasks like content drafts, keyword research, performance reports, and more. That’s impressive — and useful.

But I’ll say it again: don’t copy and paste. Use AI as a starting point, not a final solution.

Business Owners: AI Won’t Replace Strategy

Since the rise of AI tools, I’ve noticed a worrying trend. Business owners start to think: “I don’t need a marketing professional — I’ve got AI. I can do it myself.”

Sure, you can do some of it. But realistically, you’re only doing about 10% of what a marketing professional does. Here’s why:

  • You can’t build a clear and comprehensive marketing plan alone. And AI can’t do it for you without human direction.
  • Strategy still needs a human brain. AI doesn’t set business objectives or align them with market context — you do.
  • Unexpected situations arise all the time. Do you have the marketing knowledge, flexibility, and experience to adapt quickly and adjust your campaigns or messaging on the fly?
  • Data without insight is useless. Can you correlate analytics with your communication strategy, audience behavior, and tone of voice to make meaningful decisions?
  • Consistency matters. A professional ensures your brand tone, language, and visual identity remain consistent across all channels — something AI cannot fully manage on its own.
  • Creativity and emotional intelligence. AI lacks the human touch — storytelling, humor, empathy — the things that truly connect with an audience.

Real Example: Why This Matters

Let me tell you why I’m writing this.

Today, I saw a post on LinkedIn from a major company announcing that they were approved as a government supplier. Great news, right?

But then I saw this at the end of the post: “ ???? [Link]”

No actual link. Just a placeholder. Maybe it was copied from a draft. Maybe from Chat GPT. Either way, it’s disrespectful to the audience. You’re telling people this is big news — but then not giving them access to the details. It shows a lack of care and attention, and ultimately, damages credibility.

Final Thoughts: Strategy Still Wins

AI is powerful. But it’s a tool, not a replacement for professional thinking, creativity, and experience. If your business doesn’t yet have a marketing professional, now’s the time to find one. The difference they bring is measured in:

  • Strategic clarity
  • Audience connection
  • Brand consistency
  • Performance insight
  • And above all — trust

Use AI. But use it wisely. The human touch still makes all the difference.
