Hocus-Pocus or Focus? That is the question. After the challenging 2024, which put us in many difficult and strange situations, we all thought at the end of it that we’d been kind of magicians. Correct?

Do you know the feeling when you get very enthusiastic about accomplishing something important or after you’ve solved a very difficult situation? For sure you do! Don’t you feel like, at the end of a heavy road, you are the king of the world? Like you had a magic wand, hocus-pocus, problem solved! I wish I were a Good Fairy! Well, I am not. It’s just dopamine 😊 (Sometimes I feel like I am a witch, but don’t tell anyone).

During this period of Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve, I also took more time for myself. In a short translation, this means that I had more time for studying and reading. Lately, I have dedicated my time to reading books and participating in workshops and courses related to communication, marketing, and leadership. And for 2025, I will continue that way.

Getting back to one of the books I read, Robert Cialdini emphasizes in one chapter the importance of attention and focus in the context of persuasion. Cialdini explains how what people focus on determines their perceptions, judgments, and decisions. He emphasizes that by directing attention to a particular aspect or idea, it becomes more influential in the decision-making process. And it rang a bell. That is applicable in any industry, any domain, and especially when it comes to marketing and business communication.

This insight made me realize that focus is not just a personal tool but a strategic asset in business. In marketing, directing the audience’s attention to specific values or features can make those elements more compelling and drive decisions in your favor. The same principle applies to leadership—where your focus as a leader can guide the team’s energy and outcomes.

Now, as we think about 2025, it’s essential to set our objectives with clarity. We know that we’ll do the magic together, but focus is the key to knowing the exact outcome.

What do we want to achieve? What should we concentrate on? These are the questions we must answer to align our efforts and ensure that we’re channeling our energy effectively. Whether it’s refining our marketing strategies, enhancing our communication skills, or leading teams to new heights, the power of focus will be our North Star.

Let’s make 2025 a year of intentional action, driven by the insights we’ve gained and the clear goals we set. Remember, it’s not just about waving the wand—it’s about where we aim it.

Here’s to a year of focus, growth, and success!
